Hello Student,
A rank of 173240 in crl is a bit low of a rank. Due to the competition increasing by the minute everyday, the need for scoring higher marks and scores keep increasing more and more. Hence, unfortunately the top nits and IIITs would be tough to get into with this score. Also other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes ( CFTIs) such as the IITs also would be a bit tough. Since you belong to sc category, there might be some chances of you getting into newer NITs such as NIT Andhra Pradesh or NIT Pondicherry.
And, since you have mentioned that you belong to the sc category, the chances of you getting into some some of these universities are a bit more. There are some other universities into which you have a good chance of getting into. Hence I would suggest you to apply for other universities. But due to the high competition it would be advisable to apply to other universities if you are not focused on any specific department.
Some other good universities with this rank would be:
1. SSN College of Engineering, Chennai
2. SASTRA Deemed to be University, Thanjavur
3. Andhra University, Andhra Pradesh
4. Delhi University
5. Shiv Nadar University
6. VIT, Vellore
7. Manipal Institute of Technology
